Many die-hard bird photographers will bemoan the "head angle" here (the fact that the head is turned away from the camera ever so slightly), but I do feel the very low angle placing the viewer in the bird's environment is the strong point of this photo, and it actually dominates anything that could be found wanting here (combined with nice golden light of course!).
What do you think? Would love your thoughts...

It is a really nice shot of this species. Love the light, the low angle but agree with you about head angle. Those Head Angle police eh!!
ReplyDeleteAwesome shot and razor sharp. Love it and the blog! :^)
ReplyDeleteBrilliant...I think the fact that the head angle is wrong according to some, only adds to it's spontanious representation of a wild bird. A definite plus in my book...
ReplyDeleteTha angle makes it for me in this capture even if there is anyone complaining about the head angle.
ReplyDeleteYou cannot alays have it your way.
Great shot, Morkel! The low angle really makes this something special. The angle of the head doesn't concern me at all. However, if I'm really finnicky, I find the water lily to the left of the bird a little distracting.
ReplyDeleteLook forward to see some shots with your new glass! If there is someone who will be able to get the best out of it, it is you!
thanks for the comments, folks!
ReplyDeleteChris - I again feel that the lily adds to the shot in that it shows the bird in its environment...
