I thought it was about time for another PhotoShare. I should be able to get to a longer, more informative blog post sometime soon, but with a new baby in the house, you know how it goes!
This cute little white-fronted plover chick was the object of my photographic pursuit one summer morning on the South African west coast town of Dwarskersbos. Unlike the other coastlines of South Africa which are marked by cliffs, rocks, forests and dunes...the west coast is marked by miles and miles of stretching, smooth beaches.
I got down very low for this perspective of this elusive little bird. As you can see from its plumage, it blends in very well with this beach environment which is filled with scattered broken bits of shells. Every time I got close, the chick laid down and got lost to my eyes.
Until next time...

PhotoShare: Cheetah Cub Profile
Managed to find the time for a quick PhotoShare this morning. This cheetah cub was one of four who were feasting on a springbok lamb their mother had caught in the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park, South Africa.
You can see more about the sighting in my June 2010 blog post "How to Cheetah your way through the Kalahari".
Enjoy!!

Quick Update!!
Hey everyone...
I apologize upfront for the silence on my side. Things have been quite hectic! First off, our first-born arrived on Thursday, so much of my time has gone into preparing for her arrival and also in starting to learn the ropes of parenthood.
Here is a photo of me holding little Aimee Erasmus in the hospital:
There are some VERY exciting developments on my side of the world. If you have ever read this blog and wondered what it would be like to go on Photographic Safaris with me, then there's some news coming up which will pique your interest! I'll expand more on it later when things have fallen into place.
I should be able to post a new photo sometime later in the week.
Until then - keep well! I probably won't be sleeping much, but the joys of parenthood far outweigh the side-effects!
